ROME, July 10 (LSN) – In the latest report from Campaign Life Coalition’s lobbyists at the Rome United Nations Conference on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court (ICC),  a debate on “enforced pregnancy” in a special working group revealed more people are against the term than are for it. This victory is the result of intense lobbying efforts by pro-life groups from around the globe. However, pro-lifers at the conference say the battle is far from over.  Realizing the gains made by pro-lifers, the UN Women’s Caucus has devised alternate strategies to ensure the final document gives them leverage to promote abortion on demand around the world. They are now proposing that ICC judges be required to have “gender” expertise, for example. “Gender” has been used at recent UN conferences to promote the feminist and pro-homosexual agenda. The Women’s Caucus is also arguing for individuals or non-governmenta -organizations (NGO’s) to be able to initiate complaints to the ICC prosecutor, thus enabling the powerful contingent of pro-abortion NGO’s to refer the “crime” of the refusal of abortion on demand (“enforced pregnancy”) for ICC prosecution.  The Women’s Caucus is also pushing for the ICC to be empowered to override the justice systems of individual countries when the ICC deems them “ineffective.” The feminists also propose to allow the court to be privately funded, which would severely compromise the court’s impartiality.
