WASHINGTON, June 25 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An official letter from the National Conference of Catholic Bishops was sent to the House of Representatives in support of the Child Custody Protections Act. The Act would make it a federal offense to circumvent the state parental consent law by taking a minor to another state for an abortion. “The need for protecting minors is compelling,” says the letter, which adds that “in such situations, the love and support of families is critical and needs to be encouraged.”
Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the National Organization for Women and the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League have made the defeat of this bill one of their top priorities.
