WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is offering a $1.5 million grant to a provider of a planned abortion hotline, reflecting President Joe Biden’s priority of expanding abortion through all nine months of pregnancy at taxpayer expense without any limits.

The Office of Population Affairs wants to establish a “hotline” to provide information to “pregnant clients” on “pregnancy termination” as well as adoption and prenatal care. The grant would explicitly exclude pro-life organizations, as the hotline operator must provide “neutral, factual information and nondirective counseling on each of the options,” as if information on prenatal vitamins is the same as where to get an abortion.

The hotline is part of Biden’s goal, despite his professed Catholic faith, to ensure women everywhere can kill their preborn babies via abortion without any restrictions.

“The vice president and I are doing everything we can to protect access to reproductive health care and safeguard patient privacy,” Biden said during his State of the Union speech in February.

“But already, more than a dozen states are enforcing extreme abortion bans. Make no mistake; if Congress passes a national abortion ban, I will veto it,” he pledged.

Biden’s administration has also labeled those who want a ban or any limit on abortion as “extreme” or as “MAGA Republicans.”

The leader of a pregnancy help organization criticized the new hotline.

“The new hotline appears to be a direct, government-funded competition to our national pro-life hotline, Pregnancy Decision Line,” Care Net president and CEO Roland Warren told Catholic News Agency recently.

“Title X has become a key funding source for abortion providers, and only Title X-eligible organizations can compete for the grant that will fund the new hotline,” said Warren. “The people answering these calls will be biased toward directing callers to abortions, not giving them the holistic care they need.”

Another pro-life leader has questioned the legality of the hotline. CatholicVote’s Tom McCluskey said it is “a clear violation of the Hyde amendment, using tax dollars to set up a system to make it easier to kill children.”
