WASHINGTON, July 23, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Yesterday the Marriage Protection Act, passed the House by a vote of 233-194. The Marriage Protection Act is designed to remove from all federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the authority to force states to recognize homosexual ‘marriages’ from other jurisdictions.  Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family commented on the passage saying, “While this legislation will not protect marriage across the nation, it will prevent unelected rogue judges in federal courts from overturning the will of the people.”  He added, “Before the institution of marriage is fully out of reach of the U.S. Supreme Court, passage of a Federal Marriage Amendment will be necessary. We will not rest until that has been accomplished.”  The Act now goes before the Senate.
