WASHINGTON, May 3 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The US Federal Drug Administration announcement last week that it may allow birth control pills to become over the counter drugs – available without a doctor’s prescription. American Life League president Judie Brown reacted to the news,  calling it the most dangerous announcement a U.S. government agency has made in recent memory.”

“The Food and Drug Administration has moved into a dangerous area that would threaten the lives of many women, and countless numbers of children who are growing in their mothers’  wombs,” said Brown. The birth control pill is known to have serious health risks for women – including high blood pressure, blood clots, breast and cervical cancer.

ALL notes that the pill is a powerful medication currently given to perfectly healthy women.  It cures no disease and treats no ailment. The only reason it is taken is to negate the possibility of conceiving a child. “Unwary women taking the pill also subject themselves to chemical abortion of their embryonic children which often takes place before they are aware of their pregnancies,” says ALL, referring to the fact that the pill acts to cause abortions when its contraceptive effects fail.
