MASS GENETIC SCREENING FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS Under new guidelines taking effect this month, obstetricians and gynecologists are supposed to offer the gene test to every Caucasian—or the partner of a Caucasian—who is pregnant or considering having a baby. It marks the first time gene tests are being offered to the general population. Pressure to abort the unborn will now increase in response to positive tests.

MASS. SUPREME COURT RULES FOR BIOLOGICAL OVER SURROGATE PARENTS The Supreme Judicial Court, in a 7-0 ruling Friday, declared that a couple whose twins were born to a surrogate mother were the children’s legal parents from the moment of birth.
