The Wall Street Journal reports that the Food and Drug Administration has clamped down on fertility clinics practicing a new technique using DNA from three parents, saying that the government needed to give approval to any procedures that involve human cloning and other forms of genetic engineering. The targeted technique, “ooplasmic transfer,” combines the eggs of two different women and is generally used when an older woman is trying to conceive.
