A group of pro-life University of Houston law students is outraged that the lawyer who successfully argued the landmark Roe v. Wade case in the U.S. Supreme Court has been chosen as their commencement speaker. Sarah Weddington, who argued the abortion case before the nation’s highest court in 1973, was chosen without student input to deliver the May 11 commencement address for the UH Law Center. The American Family Association’s Center for Law & Policy is promising to fight state officials in Delaware who want a pregnant teenager to either have an abortion or give up her baby. The 16-year-old girl is three months pregnant and in foster care. Social workers in Delaware allegedly tried to coerce the young woman into having an abortion against her will.
