The Washington Times reports that vice-president Al Gore, who has expressed strong disapproval of a Democratic fund-raiser at the Playboy Mansion, has nevertheless accepted thousands of dollars in donations from Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and his daughter, Playboy CEO Christie Hefner.
Catholic World News reports that the US House of Representatives voted on Monday to encourage the public display of the country’s official motto, “In God We Trust.” The bill, sponsored by Rep. Bob Schaffer, R-Colorado, was intended to encourage Americans to embrace their religious heritage. The non-binding resolution was passed by a voice vote with only one representative speaking against.
