EDMONTON, May 17, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Gregg Cunningham, executive director for the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, was in Alberta over the weekend speaking at a provincial Life Conference. Cunningham called on Canadian Church leaders to become active on life issues. He was adamant that the involvement of pastors is essential to the pro-life movement. “There’s really no hope of getting people energized about this issue if we can’t get pastors energized,” he said.

Conference organizer Patty Nixon told LifeSite that Cunningham challenged churches to realize that the pro-life fight is more than just one of the many programs it should be involved with – it is absolutely mandatory. Putting it bluntly, Cunningham said, “The sewers of our cities are running with the blood of our children while the clergy sleep-walks.”
