WASHINGTON, May 6, 2003 ( – Only two weeks after President Bush called on Congress to act expeditiously on the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH) has announced that he will reintroduce the legislation this week.  The bill makes it a separate crime to kill or harm an unborn child in the commission of a federal crime.  Senator DeWine has introduced this bill three times in the Senate and he most recently introduced the bill in January 2003.  By re-introducing the bill this week, Senator DeWine hopes the full Senate will have the opportunity to consider the bill.  House lead-sponsors of parallel legislation in the House will join the Senate sponsors in a press conference tomorrow.  See related LifeSite coverage:  PRESIDENT BUSH CALLS FOR PASSAGE OF UNBORN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE LEGISLATION   For more information on this legislation and on state unborn victim laws see the NRLC website at:
