TORONTO, July 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Senator Rick Santorum, now the third ranking Republican in the US Senate, will address the pilgrims at World Youth for Life Day, the big pro-life kick-off for World Youth Day that is taking place on Toronto’s Olympic Island, via the Centre Island ferry, Monday, July 22nd.  **NOTE: Official World Youth Day registration is not required in order to attend this pre-WYD event.

Senator Santorum from Pennsylvania has served in the United States Senate since January 1995. As Conference Chairman, Senator Santorum directs the communications operations of Senate Republicans, and is a high profile spokesman for the party. He is the youngest member of the leadership.

World Youth for Life Day is a large event planned for Monday July 22nd, from 9am to 9pm on Olympic Island.  Moderator for this big day is the internationally known, cool and very lively Bud McFarlane, author and founder of Catholicity.com. Featured speakers are Camille De Blasi, executive director of the Centre for Life Principles in Spokane Washington, Dr. Dolores Grier Chancellor of Community Relations for the Archdiocese of New York and Rabbi Yehuda Levin, orthodox Jewish Rabbi and founder of the organization, Jews for Morality in New York City.  Senator Santorum will speak at 12:30 pm just prior to the arrival of the Crossroads Walkers who are being received by the crowd at Olympic Island after a 9-week walking pilgrimage from San Francisco and New Orleans.  The pilgrimage is made every year in honour of the unborn.
