WASHINGTON, April 23, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Mary Cheney, the self-professed lesbian daughter of US Vice President Dick Cheney, has joined a homosexual activist group seeking to promote homosexuality within the Republican Party. The London Telegraph reports that Miss Cheney said she had joined the board of the Republican Unity Coalition which attempts to persuade party leaders to accept homosexuals into their ranks.
“We can expand the party’s outreach to non-traditional Republicans; we can make sexual orientation a non-issue for the party; and we can help achieve equality for all gay and lesbian Americans,” said Miss Cheney.
