OTTAWA, May 28, 2001 (LSN.ca) – On Friday the Canadian Alliance’s ruling council suspended Rick Anderson, adviser to former Reform leader Preston Manning. The Globe and Mail reports that three of Anderson’s supporters, Cliff Fryers, Nancy Branscombe and Thompson MacDonald, walked out of the meeting. Fryers, Manning’s former chief of staff, told the press, “I believe Mr. Day is, without a doubt, the worst abomination we could possibly see in politics today,” and referred to supporters of Mr. Day as the “forces of darkness.” Branscombe commented, “I am sick. I am just so frustrated.” (Globe and Mail May 26, 2001)
