WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) – White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre struggled this week to justify President Joe Biden’s policy of denying COVID-unvaccinated visitors entry into the United States while allowing illegal immigrants to cross the southern border regardless of vaccination status.

The double-standard was highlighted recently by the plight of Serbian Christian tennis player Novak Djokovic, who will not be participating in the upcoming 2022 U.S. Open tennis championship because his refusal to take a COVID-19 shot has barred him from entering the U.S. The Press Secretary attempted to claim Djokovic’s case and the immigration situation are “two different things.”

“But so how is it two different things?” asked Fox News reporter Peter Doocy. “Somebody unvaccinated comes over on a plane. You say that’s not okay. Somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they’re allowed to stay? Why?”

Jean-Pierree attempted to deny Doocy’s framing of the issue, claiming “that’s not how it works.”

“That’s what’s happening,” Doocy responded. “I know that’s not what you guys want to happen. But that is what is happening.”

“But that’s not, it’s not like somebody walks over and-” Jean-Pierre doubled-down.

“That’s exactly what’s happening,” Doocy interjected. “Thousands of people are walking in a day, some of them turn themselves over, some of them are caught, tens of thousands a week are not. That is what is happening.”

Instead of responding directly, Jean-Pierre replied by reciting a list of the administration’s immigration enforcement actions. She also invoked the Title 42 public health authority, which facilitated quick deportation of illegals during a pandemic. Doocy pointed out that “you guys got rid of it,” to which Jean-Pierre claimed “Title 42 is very much in place.”

In fact, the administration announced its intentions to end Title 42 in April, effective May 23. Before the deadline arrived, federal Judge Judge Robert Summerhays ordered the administration to leave it in place, though the administration has continued to oppose the policy, and last month Democrats blocked an amendment to the so-called Inflation Reduction Act that would have obligated Biden to continue the policy.

Biden has presided over a surge of illegals entering the United States and being released inside the country, following the reversal of several Trump-era border policies, such as the previous administration’s third-country agreements with the governments of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras to have them hold refugees while their applications for political asylum in America were reviewed.

On top of the humanitarian toll and impact of illegal immigration on the job market, crime, public services, national security, and future elections, Biden has exempt border trespassers from the vaccine mandates his administration has attempted to impose on Americans. Estimates of illegals who have tested positive for COVID-19 after crossing the border this year range from 20 percent to more than half

Millions of people around the world continue to harbor concerns about the safety and effectiveness of the COVID shots, which were developed far more quickly than traditional vaccines under former President Donald Trump’s Operation Warp Speed initiative and have failed to stop the spread of the virus.

This March, it was found that 11,289 cases of pericarditis/myocarditis after COVID vaccination were reported to the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) between January 1 and February 25 of this year, which was already 47% of the 24,177 reports for the same submitted in all of 2021. An April study out of Israel indicates that COVID infection alone cannot account for such cases, despite claims to the contrary.

COVID shot defenders claim that VAERS offers an exaggerated view of a vaccine’s potential risks, as anyone can submit a report without vetting it, but the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) researchers have acknowledged “high verification rate of reports of myocarditis to VAERS after mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccination,” leading to the conclusion that “under-reporting is more likely” than over-reporting.

Further, VAERS is not the only data source indicating cause for concern. Data from the Pentagon’s Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) has been similarly alarming, showing that 2021 saw drastic spikes in a variety of diagnoses for serious medical issues over the previous five-year average, including hypertension (2,181%), neurological disorders (1,048%), multiple sclerosis (680%), Guillain-Barre syndrome (551%), breast cancer, (487%), female infertility (472%), pulmonary embolism (468%), migraines (452%), ovarian dysfunction (437%), testicular cancer (369%), and tachycardia (302%).
