HOPKINS, Minnesota (LifeSiteNews) — A Minnesota priest reportedly was given a “deeper” understanding “that truly Christ’s Blood was shed for us,” during a powerful moment at Mass on Monday.
Fr. Brent Bowman was celebrating the daily Mass at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in Hopkins, Minnesota. The parish also serves as the church for Chesterton Academy, a classical Catholic school. On Monday, Catholics celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
After announcing the words “for this is the chalice of My Blood,” Fr. Bowman began holding back tears.
Profoundly moved during the words of Consecration, he began crying and appeared to struggle under the weight of elevating the chalice.
Some had reported a possible Eucharistic miracle, with Fr. Bowman seeing the physical change of the wine into Christ’s Precious Blood. This has since been withdrawn.
“I was given an update that Fr. Brent did not see the consecrated wine change appearance or taste according to the pastor, Fr. Paul Haverstock,” Catholic writer Patrick O’Hearn wrote on Instagram.
“Instead, Fr. Brent was given a particular grace by the Lord,” O’Hearn wrote.
“He received ‘experiential knowledge of knowing on a deeper level that truly Christ’s blood was shed for us and that its weight is profound’ according to Fr. Paul. Hence Fr. Brent had difficulty lifting the chalice.”
Update: Fr. Bowman has now given his written testimony of what he experienced here.
