NEW YORK, Mar 20 (LSN) – The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (CFHRI), an advocate for family and human rights at the UN, issued a warning today about anti-life language in the proposals for an International Criminal Court. According to the CFHRI report, “UN feminists are aggressively lobbying for the inclusion of ‘enforced pregnancy’ as part of the official definition of ‘war crimes’ in the proposed International Criminal Court (ICC).”“The term ‘enforced pregnancy,’ according to sources within national delegations, is intended to make the denial of access to abortion a ‘war crime,’ the report noted. The report also indicates that the feminists are “advancing the principle of ‘complementarity,’ which would allow the ICC to override the jurisdiction of national courts when the ICC concludes that local laws don’t conform with the ICC’s definition of ‘sexual and gender violence.’” Most active in lobbying for the ICC to include “crimes of sexual and gender violence” (including “enforced pregnancy”) is a group known as the Women’s Caucus for Gender Justice. Women’s Caucus representative Minna Schrag has been appointed to the US delegation to the final deliberations on the ICC in Rome as a “gender expert.” The Women’s Caucus expects to place similar “gender experts” on other key national delegations, such as Canada’s.
