“The news is too depressing. I truly appreciate the great work that you guys do, but I’m not sure I can handle reading about these issues anymore.”
That might be the #1 comment that people who unsubscribe from LifeSiteNews.com have given over the years.
And the fact is, the news can be depressing: after all, we live in an age where literally tens of millions of unborn babies are ripped apart in their own mothers’ wombs every year. And that’s to say nothing at all of the damages wrought by widespread family breakdown, euthanasia, homosexual militarism, and the other evils that constitute the Culture of Death.
Of course, it’s absolutely crucial that pro-life and pro-family people stay abreast of the latest advances of the Culture of Death, no matter how distressing they might be. And LifeSiteNews’ huge and ever-growing readership is a testament to the effectiveness of our reporting on these issues.

But it is also true, as many of you have pointed out, that there are many signs of hope in this dark time. Things like:
- the increasing number of abortion clinic workers quitting their jobs and converting to pro-life
- the amazing stories of babies saved from abortion under extraordinary circumstances
- the growing crowd of young, zealous and dynamic young men and women who are stepping forward to fight for life and the family, no matter the personal cost.
- the small but growing number of religious leaders who are finally, courageously proclaiming God’s truth on the most important controversies of our time.
Many of you who participated in our online survey earlier this year asked for stories about these hopeful signs, to help encourage you and sustain you as we engage together in this difficult culture war.
Well, we want you to know…we’re listening.
When we launched our new website last year we created the very popular Culture of Life section, to feature such stories of hope.
Recently, however, we have been making a renewed effort to deliberately seek out, and report on such stories. Stories like:
- The heroism of Amanda Schulten, a Chicago area mother who defied doctors’ advice to abort her conjoined twins and, against all odds, gave birth to two daughters earlier this month.
- The courage of Anne Marie, a young pro-life nurse, who successfully challenged her university’s nursing residence program requirement to certify in writing that she would agree to participate in abortions.
- The amazing resignation of Planned Parenthood manager Ramona Trevino.
And that’s just a sampling of the many inspiring stories that we have published and will continue to publish – with your financial support.
Amazingly, many of these “Culture of Life” stories have been the most popular stories we’ve published all year! People love hearing stories of goodness and heroism and hope! It reminds them that the Culture of Life truly is stronger than the Culture of Death – and that life and goodness will always win out in the end.
Please help us bring these exceptional stories of hope in greater number and to more people each day! (Click here to donate today)
An integral part of our expansion strategy includes greater attention given to these important “culture of life” stories. In fact, we would love to be able to have reporters devoted solely to such stories!
But to do so, we need your support. Right now we have only reached seven per cent of our Fall Campaign goal!
Not only will we need to reach our goals each campaign, we need to depend on you, who believe so strongly in our mission, to increase support and invite others to join us in this fight.
This battle continues day in and day out, and we have promised to bring you the news you need to hear to help build a culture of life. Building a culture of life starts with each one of us.
