(LifeSiteNews) — Republican candidate for Arizona governor Kari Lake declared the state must “fire the federal government” in a statement condemning the FBI raid of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.
Lake slammed the federal government as an enemy of the American people in her response to the “weaponiz[ation]” of the federal government to “take down” Trump in a statement posted on Twitter.

“This is one of the darkest days in American history: the day our Government, originally created by the people, turned against us. This illegitimate, corrupt Regime hates America and has weaponized the entirety of the Federal Government to take down President Donald Trump,” Lake wrote.
“Our government is rotten to the core,” continued Lake, further calling the raid a “horrendous abuse of power” and part of a tyrannical attempt to silence “Patriots who are working hard to save America.”
Lake invoked the power of the states as an antidote to federal tyranny: “The 10th amendment can and will save our Republic and the road to stripping the Feds of power runs right through Arizona,” she wrote, suggesting that she would have recourse to the 10th amendment as governor of Arizona.
While she did not specify exactly how she would enforce a stricter interpretation of federalism, the 10th Amendment has traditionally been recognized as delegating broad powers to each of the 50 states.
It declares that “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Lake has already invoked states’ rights in her aspiration to secure the U.S. border in Arizona as governor, declaring, “If Washington intends to abandon Arizona, we will exercise a federalist remedy with like-minded states across our great nation to deal with the crisis ourselves.” Lake added that in such a circumstance “states have every recourse and responsibility to take matters into their own hands.”
Lake wrote that her call for an interstate compact would “make it crystal clear that the states are sovereign and have every right to secure the borders of the United States.”
“We must fire the Federal Government,” Lake further declared in her rebuke of the Mar-a-Lago raid. “As Governor, I will fight these Tyrants with every fiber of my being. America — dark days lie ahead for us. May God protect us and save our Country.”
