October 10, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Students for Life of America (SFLA) has announced that they are hosting a webcast at 5:00 Eastern time tonight to commemorate the life of their field director Kortney Blythe Gordon and her unborn daughter Sophy, who were tragically killed in a car accident on Saturday night. They will also update supporters on the status of Jon Scharfenberger, Coordinator of SFLA’s Pregnant on Campus Initiative, who was in the same car as Kortney when it collided head-on with another vehicle. Jon is currently in critical condition.
“David Bereit of 40 Days for Life, Reverend Pat Mahoney of Christian Defense Coalition, Troy Newman of Operation Rescue, and Claude Allen of Gerard Health Foundation will be on the call to lead us in prayer and discussion to honor the lives of Kortney and her daughter Sophy, and to offer words of encouragement for Jon and his family,” said SFLA Executive Director Kristan Hawkins in an e-mail.
