(Thank you to everyone who has donated to support our Fall campaign. We simply can't do this without your support!)

It doesn’t matter whether you’re Catholic or not, if you care about life and family, you care about what happens at the Vatican.

And if you care about what happens at the Vatican, you’re probably getting anxious about what’s going to happen at the upcoming Synod on the Family in October.

This critical synod couldn’t come at a more important time. The family everywhere is in shambles, ravaged by the diseases of divorce, cohabitation, contraception, abortion and pornography.

Meanwhile, the institution of marriage itself is everywhere under siege, and in many places is crumbling under the attacks.

Now, more than ever, the world needs the Catholic Church to mount a concerted, strong offensive in defense of the ancient truths of family and marriage!

And yet, at the same time there are numerous ominous signs that certain “liberal” factions in the Church are gearing up to hijack this Synod to make things even worse by pushing their disturbing ideas – ideas that could dramatically undermine the grassroots efforts of people like you and me who are fighting to support the family.

They must not be allowed to do so!

That’s why LifeSiteNews has been carefully following and reporting on developments in the the lead-up to the Synod.

And that’s why I’m going to Rome myself along with our associate editor to join our regular Rome correspondent to report from the Vatican throughout the duration of the Synod.

We will have our boots on the ground, using our many sources at the Vatican to:

  • get the inside scoop

  • amplify the voices of the more faithful bishops, clergy and faithful

  • make sure you get real-time, exclusive updates on the Synod’s deliberations – deliberations that could literally change the course of history!

But we need your help to accomplish this. That's why I am urgently asking you to support our fall campaign with the most generous donation you can, today!

Make no mistake, our task is no easy one.

The sad truth is that those wanting to undermine the Church’s traditional teachings have the powerful support of the anti-life and anti-family mainstream media. Together, they have the ability to spread mass confusion among the public and everyday Catholics.

Meanwhile the good, strong, holy bishops and clergy who fearlessly defend traditional values are often ignored, or worse, deliberately misinterpreted and attacked in the media!

In fact, if you read only the mainstream media these days, you might think that the Catholic Church really has, or is about to somehow change its teachings on issues like marriage, contraception, cohabitation, abortion, and homosexuality.

We know that’s not true, and that the Church never will, or even can, change it’s teachings on these core issues! But that doesn’t mean that the sowers of confusion and the enemies of the truth can’t do much damage in the meantime.

In fact, they have already begun.

The Synod is still days away, but the mainstream media and certain bishops and theologians have been in overdrive for weeks now trying to set the agenda, and creating the impression that the Church will soon be going in a “new direction.”

First there came news of Cardinal Walter Kasper’s troubling proposal to allow divorced and remarried Catholics to receive communion – in contradiction to the whole history of Catholic teaching on the indissolubility of marriage!

Then last week we learned that Cardinal Godfried Danneels – one of the most liberal cardinals in Europe, who has even praised as “positive” the legalization of same-sex civil unions! – has inexplicably been given a special invitation to participate in the Synod. (You’ll remember that Danneels retired in disgrace after being caught on tape urging a victim of years of sexual abuse not to speak up against one of Danneels’ close bishop friends.)

And then, as if things couldn’t get more baffling, last week LifeSiteNews confirmed with our sources in Rome that one of the strongest pro-life and pro-family voices in the Catholic Church, Cardinal Raymond Burke, is going to be shuffled out of his high-profile Vatican post to a merely ceremonial post outside the Vatican.

This, at a time when his voice couldn’t be more needed!

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of the many foreboding signs that the defenders of truth will have their work cut out for them at the Synod.

It’s at times like these that I thank God that He has given us this calling to stand up for the values of life and family, and that he has always provided us with the means to do this work.

Our reporters have years of experience reporting on Vatican affairs as they relate to life and family issues. And with their presence on the ground at the Synod, they will be able to expose and counteract the efforts of the “liberal” theologians, and the inevitable mis-reporting by the mainstream media.

And they will be able to get you the true story of the heroic actions of the many faithful bishops and clergy at the Synod who will be working hard to propose real, concrete, and orthodox solutions to the problems that plague our culture.

But in order to bring you this exclusive coverage, we need your help! (Click here to Donate)

One of the main advantages that we have at LifeSite is that we are supported almost exclusively by everyday donors like you.

What this means is that we have no restrictions or political or financial obligations to any outside powers-that-be who might try to manipulate our coverage to serve their vested interests.

In other words, we are answerable only to the Truth.

This dedication to the Truth, as well as a deep commitment to personal prayer and discernment in all our coverage related to the Church, is the unique mix that our reporters will bring to the coverage of the Synod.

But our only hope that we can continue to be such a voice is with YOUR support.

Today, I am asking you to make as generous a donation as you can to our fall campaign.

Please don’t wait.

Our campaign is already almost half over, but we are only 20% of the way to our minimum goal of $150,000! And we absolutely must reach that goal to continue operating until our Christmas campaign.
