MADISON, Wisconsin, June 26, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) — A Wisconsin Catholic bishop has endorsed the American “Rosary Coast to Coast.”

Bishop Robert C. Morlino, 71, of the Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin has appeared in a video advertising the nationwide October 7 prayer event. Invoking the successful mass rosaries held in Poland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom in past months, the bishop encouraged all to take part.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to thank God for all of His blessings,” the bishop said, “for sustaining us in our country, in our culture, where we are taking fire from every direction.”

“We are very far right now from looking like the Kingdom of God,” he added. “We’ve got to get to work!”

The bishop reflected that the secular world is “very hostile” toward faithful Christians right now and so we have to respond with strength and with charity.

He believes that the Rosary Coast to Coast will be a great way to to fight against the works of evil, thanks to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

“(Praying the rosary is) asking the Blessed Mother who is the most powerful enemy against the forces of evil except for Jesus Christ Himself,” Morlino said. “It is her foot that crushes the serpent. We should never forget that.”

The bishop anticipates that the Rosary Coast to Coast will be “a powerful witness to our country” and may lead to our culture being “transformed.”

“This is just the medicine that we need at just the time we need it,” he stated.

Organizers of the Rosary Coast to Coast have likened their prayer event to a military charge into battle, saying they are entering  “fully into the spiritual warfare we are facing … We hear the clarion call of the Holy Spirit, through the Immaculata, and each of us sound the reply: ‘I’m Going In!’”

Father Richard Heilman of the Roman Catholic Man blog also endorsed the event, stressing that the spiritual battle is not just outside but inside the Catholic Church.

“Even in Holy Mother Church, confusion, anger, division, and error have taken root – ravaging the Spotless Bride of Christ,” he said in a previous promotional video for the event.
