CUYAHOGA FALLS, April 16, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Cuyahoga Falls woman claims in a lawsuit that an RU-486 chemical abortion has left her unable to conceive.  Dana Powell, 30, filed her lawsuit in Summit County Common Pleas Court against the Akron Women’s Center for Choice, abortionist Dr. Raymond Robinson and nurse Mike Finke.  In her lawsuit, Powell states she began suffering cramping and bleeding during an otherwise normal pregnancy. In October 2002, despite the clinic’s assurance that it was a normal pregnancy, Powell opted to abort her child. She opted for the abortion drug, RU-486, and was also instructed to take two Cytotec pills two days afterward to promote expulsion of the dead baby.  Immediately after taking the Cytotec, Powell stated that she suffered cramping. She said she was told to take another dose and call back the next day. Her condition continued to worsen over the next month until she was forced to go to a hospital. She was taken to the Akron City Hospital and diagnosed with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy in the left fallopian tube, leaving her unable to conceive.  Powell is suing for medical malpractice and infliction of emotional distress. She states that the clinic and the medical staff failed to properly diagnose the ruptured ectopic pregnancy and ignored her symptoms and pain.  The maker of RU-486, Danco Laboratories, states that the abortion drug should not be taken by women who have ectopic pregnancies. Also, the FDA requires those administering the RU-486 to have be trained to detect eptopic pregnancies.
