CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTRES, Aug 25 (LifeSiteNews.com) – World magazine reported last week on the dramatic impact ultrasounds have on turning people away from abortion. The article also notes that a growing number of Crisis Pregnancy Centres in the U.S. are also becoming medical clinics, thus enabling them to possess and use ultrasound machines.

World told the story of a young couple who went to a CPC in Florida at the coaxing of the woman to get an ultrasound. The man looked as though he was there against his will but, according to one of the CPC workers, “when the ultrasound revealed a tiny child growing inside ‘Carrie’, ‘Sean’ couldn’t take his eyes off the screen. … ‘I saw a little person,’ [he] answered softly. ‘And that’s my little person in there’.” “As early as 1983, doctors predicted that ultrasound, in the hands of those who oppose abortion, might someday prove an effective weapon in the war against it,” World notes. “That prediction seems to be coming true. While the effectiveness of ultrasound in helping women choose life has not been formally studied, CPC directors across the country report case after case of women and couples who had been determined to abort, but changed their minds after seeing pictures of their babies living busily inside the womb.”

The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates’ “Life Choice Project” gives crisis pregnancy centers the tools and information that allow them to be converted into medical centers that can perform ultrasounds through Care Net. Care Net Pregnancy Services Center can be contacted at: 8454 S US Highway 1, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34952-0330 or by phone at: (561) 871-2211.
