(LifeSiteNews) – The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended that homosexually active men reduce their sexual activity to stop the spread of monkeypox and called on tech companies to censor opinions they deem harmful.

Almost 100 percent of monkeypox cases have occurred in men, and according to the WHO, “at least 95 percent” of those have occurred because of homosexual activity.

Rosamund Lewis, the WHO’s “monkeypox expert,” said that men who have sex with men are the prime spreaders of the virus.

WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus said that men who have sex with men should reduce their partners and exchange contact information in order to contact trace any cases of the disease.

According to the WHO, experts are not sure if monkeypox is a new type of sexually transmitted infection, but a representative for the WHO said that it spreads like herpes.

Dr. Peter McCullough tweeted a summary of research published in the New England Journal of Medicine that tallied the cases of monkeypox at almost 100 percent having occurred in homosexual activity.

Ghebreyesus expressed concern that “disinformation” about monkeypox could spread online so he called for global censorship by tech companies and social media giants.

“Disinformation can spread rapidly online,” he said. “So we call on all social media platforms, tech companies and news organizations to work with us to prevent and counter harmful information.”
