LONDON, Apr 23 (LSN) – The British medical newspaper Hospital Doctor reported this week that junior doctors in Britain are being harassed into committing abortions by their supervisors. Dr.  Paul Flynn of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in north-eastern England told doctors at a conference sponsored by the British Medical Association (BMA) that after revealing his desire not to commit abortions, he was warned by an eminent professor that he would not go far in his field. The conference also heard that doctors training in obstetrics,  gynaecology and anaesthetics are especially vulnerable to such harassment.  Dr Therese von Goetz said that the “coercion in terms of career disadvantage,” was “an established fact.” Delegates to the conference urged hospitals to discipline senior doctors who force their juniors to commit abortions.
