California Attorney General Xavier Becerra

June 15, 2018 (American Life League) – Definition of CINO: Catholic in Name Only.

Xavier Becerra, current politically appointed California attorney general, has won his primary bid to seek election by the people of that state.

When then state attorney general, pro-abortion Kamela Harris, vacated her post to run for the US Senate and won, Becerra got the nod from Governor Jerry Brown for the appointment. However, unlike Harris and Brown, Becerra is Catholic-in-name-only (CINO) and totally pro-abortion.

If you do not live in California, you might wonder why this should concern you, so let me tell you why. First of all, Becerra has been the point man for the outrageous fight against nationally recognized, professional investigative reporter, David Daleiden, and the Center for Medical Practice, the group producing the videos that shine a bright light on Planned Parenthood's evil baby-body-parts sales racket.

Becerra is an avid supporter of everything Planned Parenthood does. This is why he is suing the federal government over the Trump administration's plan “to strip funding for Planned Parenthood and other clinics that provide abortions.”

This pro-death CINO has won his primary, and chances are good that he will win in November, because where there is evil, there is always lots of money. But that is not what is most troubling about this man.

Tell Congress to keep their promise and defund Planned Parenthood. Sign the petition here!

The California Catholic bishops have not uttered a word about his pro-abortion position nor have they instructed him to never receive Holy Communion until he repents of his sin of public support for abortion.

In fact, last year Archdiocese of Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez received an award at the same event where the Cesar Chavez Foundation honored Becerra.

It makes you wonder why so few Catholic bishops or priests these days obey Catholic Canon Law 915 or is it meaningless to them? We know with certainty that Archbishop Joseph Naumann does but is he the only one these days?

The entire situation is very sad. And in California it is even worse, given the fact that one of the most prominent CINO politicians in the state is leading the cheering section for more abortion and less honesty about what Planned Parenthood is up to!

What a shame.

If Catholic bishops defended Christ in the Eucharist by obeying Canon Law 915, perhaps public figures like Becerra would not be getting away with supporting the killing of the preborn while claiming to be Catholic.

Instead, priests and bishops would have instructed them that they may not call themselves Catholic because you cannot be Catholic and pro-abortion! There was a time when bishops did that, but not lately.

If they did, insulting Christ in the Eucharist would begin to cease.

Thus we are left wondering why so many bishops and priests, deacons and Eucharistic ministersare allowing such people to receive the body of Christ. Oh, we are aware of some of the answers given to us by wish-washy bishops and Jesuit priests, but such responses fall painfully short.

This sort of sad political sham reminds me of the profound words Christ spoke to the hypocrites He walked among when he said to them: “Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs that look handsome on the outside, but inside are full of the bones of the dead and every kind of corruption.”

Recall the words of Raymond Cardinal Burke, who wrote

If the lack of right disposition is serious and public, and the person, nevertheless, approaches to receive the Sacrament, then he is to be admonished and denied Holy Communion. In other words, the Church cannot remain silent and indifferent to a public offense against the Body and Blood of Christ.

The Church cannot remain silent.

And when the bureaucracy does, we the people, who are the body of Christ, must point out why it is wrong for such silent assent to crimes against the body of Christ to continue.

Let us pray for the courage to stand up with valiant Church leaders like Cardinal Raymond Burke and brave Catholics like David Daleiden and beg our priests and bishops to do what should be done – obey Canon Law 915 and deny the body and blood of Christ to pro-abortion CINOs like Becerra.
