August 8, 2013 (HLI) – “Pro-choicers” are very careful about the way they portray themselves. They emphasize women’s health, applaud “reproductive rights,” and call attention to a woman’s choice to control her own body; indeed, hardly ever is the word “abortion” mentioned. But over the past few weeks, pro-aborts have slipped up and shown the world what they are truly fighting for. From the circus-like atmosphere at the Texas Capitol, to a more recent outrageous display in South Korea, the “pro-choice movement” has made clear that their radical ideology is more important than the truth and women’s health.

Last month in Austin, Texas, the pro-abortion mob put on quite a show, to put it mildly, in their opposition to a bill (now law) focused on protecting women’s health and the unborn by requiring abortion clinics to meet the heath and safely regulations of ambulatory surgical centers, requiring that a doctor administer the abortion drug RU-486 to a woman in person, and prohibiting abortions after 20 weeks, in recognition of the overwhelming scientific evidence that the unborn child can feel pain.

As a witness to these events, I can attest to the fact that it was an insanely intense experience.  NARAL and Planned Parenthood’s propaganda about “choice,” “women’s health,” and “restricted access” riled the pro-aborts so much that they went wild. Some of highlights of their antics included: chanting “Hail Satan” at praying pro-lifers; bringing jars of feces and urine to throw at pro-life legislators; bouncing tampons on a bed sheet trampoline in the rotunda of the Capitol; yelling and screaming like animals; behaving angrily and aggressively towards pro-lifers; painting themselves red with fake blood; chaining themselves to the railing in the Senate gallery; and getting mass arrested after the bill passed. The pro-aborts did not paint a pretty picture of themselves that night. True, the mainstream media told the story from a very biased point of view, leaving out many parts that would only reflect badly on the mob, but thanks to social media, they couldn’t completely hide the horrible behavior of the pro-aborts. For one of the first times in 40 years, people caught a glimpse of the true nature of the pro-abortion movement.

Just last week in South Korea, the pro-aborts slipped up again at an international women’s medical conference in Seoul. The “pro-choice” leaders of Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA) decided to ban pro-life doctors from speaking at their triennial conference at the last minute because the scientific presentations these doctors were scheduled to present were deemed to “threaten women’s reproductive rights.” When an alternate event was set up with the media, the MWIA sent their Secretary General to interrupt the interview the pro-life physicians were having with the press! She stood in front of the camera insisting the interview was over, refusing to move, even when she was told she was interfering with the freedom of the press. After she successfully disrupted the interview, other MWIA members jeered at and harassed the pro-life doctors from American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) and members of the press, and all of it was captured on camera. Like the situation in Texas, it’s hard to put a positive spin on that kind of behavior.

Though these situations in which pro-lifers are aggressively persecuted are difficult to hear about and to experience, they are a sign that the pro-life movement is on the right track. If they want to silence our doctors, our legislators, and our sidewalk counselors, it means we have something worth saying. As Governor Perry said of the screaming abortion advocates who filled the Texas Capitol, “Just remember: the louder the opposition screams, the more we know we’re doing something right.”

The abortion advocates don’t want to hear the medical and scientific evidence that abortion is not good for women and that it kills innocent children. They know that the truth is against them; they can’t respond to our arguments. Therefore, they seek to silence us instead. If they make fools of themselves and alienate the public as they try to do so, so much the better for us.

It’s time the world finally saw that the abortion industry does not care about giving women a choice; it does not want to make abortions “safe, legal, and rare.” Rather, the abortion industry wants to increase the number of abortions performed, using taxpayer dollars to fund them, and make as much money off of suffering women as possible.
