(LifeSiteNews) — In a speech to the House Committee on the Judiciary, journalist Emma-Jo Morris said the censorship of her story on the Hunter Biden laptop exposed “the unholy alliance between the intelligence community, social media and legacy media platforms.”

Speaking during a House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing in Washington, D.C., on July 20, the political editor at Breitbart and formerly the New York Post saw her reporting on the “laptop from hell” vindicated as “proven to be 100 percent factually accurate.”

Weeks before the 2020 presidential election, her reporting proved Joe Biden’s personal involvement in Ukrainian and Chinese business deals which he had repeatedly denied.

Morris laughed when reading out a headline from Politico which described the laptop – and her reporting – as “Russian disinformation.”

“I can’t even say that with a straight face.”

FBI aware, election subversion

Five days after she broke the story, Politico published the article below. It was the result of a letter conceived by a Democratic party operative and former aide to the chief of the CIA, John Brennan.

The story was the brainchild of  Nick Shapiro, supported by the “Dirty 51” intelligence agents, showing a remarkably clean cut Hunter Biden.

Morris told the committee that the New York Post published the sources for her findings, as well as a federal subpoena that showed the FBI had been in possession of all the information she had mentioned since 2019. The FBI had known everything and had done nothing – until the intelligence community decided to smear her work as Russian propaganda.

51 former intelligence agents came together to denounce the laptop and its contents with the allegation it had “all the earmarks [sic] of a Russian information operation.”

As the Post reported in 2022:

Not one of the 51 had seen any material from the laptop or bothered asking for it, but their letter, instigated by, signed and delivered to Politico by Democratic operative and former John Brennan aide Nick Shapiro, killed the story stone dead.

It got candidate Joe Biden off the hook for the corrupt influence-peddling scheme his family had been running through the eight years of his vice presidency.

The shameful letter was used by Joe Biden three days later, on October 22, to deflect Trump’s attack in their last debate.

The 51 people concerned were not all low-level operatives. As the Post noted:

Five former CIA directors signed the letter – Mike Hayden, Leon Panetta, John Brennan and Michael Morell (acting), and John McLaughlin (briefly acting) – as well as a former Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, eight CIA intelligence officers, seven analysts, four chiefs of staff and assorted other former Washington intelligence community grifters.

None of the “Dirty 51” have either apologized or faced any consequences for this concerted action, which Morris agrees had a profound effect on the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

She was questioned on the issue by Republican representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY). As Breitbart reported:

‘So do you agree that the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story was determinative in the 2020 election?’

‘Yeah, there are various polls that say that there would have been a change in the outcome of the election. And obviously, it’s immediately relevant to a decision on who to vote for.’

Morris agreed that “this form of government censorship was, in fact, election interference.”

Not only was it interference, but the FBI themselves admitted the evidence on the laptop was genuine on the very day Morris’ report came out. From a New York Post report on July 20:

A senior FBI official told Twitter that Hunter Biden’s laptop was legitimate on the same day The Post published the first article in a bombshell reporting series on documents linking President Biden to his son’s foreign business deals, according to deposition testimony released Thursday by the House Judiciary Committee.

That confirmation was not shared with voters ahead of the 2020 election as dozens of former intelligence officials and then-presidential candidate Joe Biden falsely suggested that incriminating documents were Russian disinformation.

‘Somebody from Twitter essentially asked whether the laptop was real. And one of the FBI folks who was on the call did confirm that, ‘yes, it was,’ before another participant jumped in and said, ‘no further comment,” Laura Dehmlow, section chief of the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force, recollected in a closed-door deposition Monday, according to a release from the Republican-led committee.

Conspiracy against the truth

Morris revealed that the rot went deeper than an intelligence community “having such damaged credibility following their participation in the Russia collusion conspiracy theory” against President Donald Trump.

She showed that when Trump challenged Joe Biden with the contents of the laptop, he lied to the nation in the second presidential debate on October 22, 2020, claiming the accusations were “a Russian plant.”

Subsequent investigation revealed that it was the Biden team which was keenly planting stories in the press.

Morris said, “Last Spring, House investigators revealed it was a call by now Secretary of State Antony Blinken to former acting CIA director Michael Morrell that prompted the ‘spy letter’ published by Politico.”

Not only did Blinken plant this story, using CIA influence, he did so in a manner which “bypassed agency approval processes which would have been normally applied.”

Morris also refers to the coordinated efforts through social media companies to kill a story which revealed the Biden family’s corruption.

“Ahead of my reporting federal agencies were priming social media companies to execute an operation to discredit [the laptop] according to internal documents released by Elon Musk,” she said.

Morris observed that “the FBI and other intelligence community members effectively directed the platform’s censorship operation” – through a combination of direct cooperation and the “eye-popping” numbers of “agency alumni” working at top social media companies.

Vindication after the fact

Morris notes that since the election all the mainstream outlets which suppressed and distorted her work now agree that the laptop and its contents are genuine.

“Over the last few years my reporting has been confirmed by virtually every mainstream news outlet,” she said.

So why did they change their minds? Now, the stakes are “nothing,” said Morris, whilst at the time it was an issue which would have turned voters against Biden in droves.

This elaborate censorship conspiracy wasn’t because the information being reported was false – it was because it was true.

It was a threat to the power centers in this country.

Morris concluded her speech with a warning:

What this relationship between the U.S. government officials and American corporations represent is an unprecedented push to undermine the First Amendment.

The right to think, write, read and say whatever we want.

She finished with an appeal to the American people, in whose hands she believes lies the life of the Republic.

How we respond will determine whether we see a free press as inalienable – or as optional.
