(ISFCC) — On a Monday afternoon in the peaceful town of Athlone, Ireland, a shout rang out “Ireland Should be Catholic, Not Socialist!”

The young men with Irish Society for Christian Civilisation were back in town defending the perennial values of tradition, family, and property. The specific issue for the public’s attention was the worrying advance of socialism in Ireland.

A plague is threatening Ireland

Over the last few decades, a plague has been spreading through Ireland. Most people don’t know its name, but they see and feel its effects. It spreads high taxes, rising petrol and grocery prices, eroding property rights, and worst of all, corruption of children in schools.

This plague has a name: socialism. This repackaged version of communism is a worldview of radical equality that seeks to level all natural inequalities.

Socialism promotes a materialist and atheistic perspective that despises and persecutes the traditional family and the Catholic Faith.

Socialism is attacking family and property rights

In Ireland, socialism is destroying both family and property rights. In recent weeks, socialist politicians have advanced the Right to Housing Bill 2020. If passed, the bill would recognize the “right to secure, affordable, dignified housing” and it will “delimit the right to private property where it is necessary to ensure the common good.”

Thus, this redefined right to housing would trump any right to ownership of private property and could even lead to the loss of property.

An even more concerning socialist advance against families is in the education field.

Helen McEntee, the Fine Gael Justice Minister, introduced a new teaching strategy to deal with “gender-based violence.” The extremely immoral approach, promoted by the Department of Education, encourages “crossdressing” for “erotic enjoyment,” and learning about “drag and gender-fluid” identities.

Raising the alarm

To alert the public to the danger of socialism, the Irish Society for Christian Civilisation (ISFCC) launched a week-long series of campaigns across the country.

UPDATE (8/6/22): We are heartbroken to tell you that Archie's life-support was switched off on Saturday 6 August.

We ask you to add your name to the prayerful message we are sending Archie's parents, Hollie and Paul, who are suffering the most devastating time of their lives.

Both the European Court of Human Rights and a UK High Court turned down respective applications by Archie's parents to halt the withdrawal of life-support and allow them to transfer their son to hospice care.

This cruel betrayal by the legal and medical establishment, who even denied Archie the right to travel abroad where treatment was being offered to him, represents another blow to the notion that human rights and parents' wishes really matter.

We can only hold Archie and the entire family in our prayers now.

Thank you for your support.

May God have mercy on them all.

Archie Battersbee (12) is on life-support in a UK hospital following a tragic accident, but doctors now want to end his treatment despite his distraught parents begging medics to let God decide when he dies.

Archie's heartbroken mother has submitted an application to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) that prevented the hospital turning off her son's life-support earlier today.

SIGN this urgent petition in support of Archie and his family - tell the ECHR to Let Archie Live.

Lawyers for the hospital last night told Archie's family that he cannot be moved to a hospice, and that if an application to the ECHR was not received by 9am on 3 August, life support would be withdrawn at 11am.

Thankfully the family's lawyers submitted the ECHR application, or Archie would now be dead.

Archie’s mother Hollie Dance said: “We are very relieved (that Archie's machine was not turned off), we are having to battle every decision with the hospital. We now hope and pray that the ECHR will look favorably on the application."

"We will not give up on Archie until the end. Heartbreakingly, the hospital Trust have told us that we cannot move Archie to a hospice....This is cruel and we are absolutely appalled,” she added.

The family are also receiving offers from doctors abroad to treat Archie, but they are not allowed to transfer their son from the hospital.

On Tuesday government lawyers also convinced the UK's Supreme Court to dismiss the interim measures injunction issued by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), which said Archie’s treatment should not be removed.

Archie's life is on the line - he needs us to raise the alarm throughout the world today.

SIGN AND SHARE this urgent petition today.

It is unspeakably cruel to drag Archie's mother through the courts when her son is in such a devastating condition - she should be allowed to spend this precious time with him, not having to fight tooth and nail to prevent doctors from withdrawing treatment.

While Archie's doctors claim he is "brain-stem dead", not one medic would testify before the courts that this is definitely the case.

In fact, Archie's parents have footage of their son gripping their fingers, contrary to the doctors' claim he is "brain-stem dead".

Instead, Archie's mom is insisting that God should decide when her son passes, not doctors, lawyers, judges and politicians.

Archie's dad, Paul Battersbee, fell ill outside the Court of Appeals on 25 July as he awaited a ruling that upheld the hospital's right to withdraw life-support treatment.

Such is the stress, anxiety and pain that is being inflicted on these poor parents.

Please stand with this sorrowful mother and father today as they fight for their beloved son.

Sign The Petition: Let Archie Live.

And please say a prayer for Archie and his family - this was the scene before lawyers managed to submit the ECHR application:

From July 25-30, young volunteers crisscrossed the country visiting Dublin, Limerick, Galway City, Cork City, and Wexford Town.

Volunteers handed out over 10,000 leaflets titled “10 Reasons to Reject Socialism.” The leaflet unmasks the socialist ideology, showing how it attacks the Catholic faith, the family, and private property.

Throughout the week of campaigns, many people expressed surprise when hearing about the proposed Right to Housing Bill, the new educational strategy and other radical parts of the socialist agenda.

What the public had to say about socialism

Support for the campaign against socialism was widespread. In Galway, a young father pushing a pram received a leaflet and emphatically stated, “I hate socialism!”

In Cork City, there was a lot of support. One man, who already knew Irish Society for Christian Civilisation, asked, “are you getting much opposition?” “No, a lot of people are accepting the leaflets,” a volunteer answered. “That’s good. Keep up the good work.”

In Galway, another man approached an ISFCC volunteer and thanked him. “You’re the only ones doing this, and it’s such an important issue to talk about. People don’t realise there’s an underlying ideology pushing this, abortion, and all the other evils.”

There were, however, some people who were vehemently opposed to the campaign against socialism.

In Cork City, one man dressed as a hippie accepted a leaflet, but when he realised it was anti-socialist, he spat on it and threw it on the ground.

One pro-socialist woman came by during a campaign in Limerick. “I embraced socialism,” she told a volunteer, who in turn asked her, “so you agree socialism is the same as communism?” “Yes,” the woman said. “So do you agree with China and Russia?” the volunteer continued. The woman refused to answer and walked away.

The true solution: Turning back to God

The solution to Ireland’s problems is not to implement more socialist legislation, but for the nation to turn back to God. Ireland needs to embrace Christian Civilisation, as Prof. Plinio Correa de Oliveira explained in this way:

“Therefore, man advances in the life of grace by the practice of virtue, at the same time he elaborates a culture — a political, social and economic order — in entire consonance with the basic and perennial principles of Natural Law. This is what we call Christian civilization.”

This ideal will only become a reality in Ireland when God, His Church, and His laws are at the center of society.

Let us pray and act for the conversion of Ireland so that it may once again become the land of saints and scholars.
