September 6, 2013 (Radiance Foundation) – It’s easier to ignore an epidemic if you pretend it doesn’t exist. Human history is full of examples of people looking away as atrocities were carried out all around them. One of the most invisible injustices today is abortion. We don’t see the carnage on violence-soaked TV. We don’t see the mutilated bodies on local newscasts that regularly swoop in like vultures at any sign of blood. We don’t see the obvious aftermath that a culture of abortion and abandonment has inflicted on our most vulnerable communities.

And we don’t see today’s most notable “civil rights” groups challenging the most violent human injustice of our time. Hilary Shelton, the NAACP Washington Bureau Director and Senior Vice President for Advocacy, claims to this day: “The NAACP has never taken a position on abortion. We simply support a woman’s right to choose.”

Could anyone get away with the suggestion that they’ve never taken a position on slavery, but just support a person’s decision to have a slave? Or, would one be considered a civil rights champion if he claimed: “I’ve never taken a position on segregation. I simply support a person’s right to choose.” Semantics is a terrible game to play when 56 million lives have been extinguished by the “right to choose”.

Shelton has repeated this lie in numerous news interviews and repeated it to me at the end of the Republican National Committee’s “Fulfill the Dream” luncheon on August 26th in DC (a beautiful tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King). Although quite an amiable person, he never stopped smiling or veering from his grossly uninformed talking points. He didn’t know how many abortions Planned Parenthood commits each year, how much funding they annually receive, or how they possibly “separate” our tax dollars from their abortion-centered business. At one point, he told me that only “9% of their services are for abortion.” I asked, “So, it’s ok that they are only killing human beings 9% of the time?” He shook his head, “No, no, no, no. That’s not what I’m saying,” and he quickly talked about birth control and breast cancer screenings. I explained Planned Parenthood claims that abortions are only 3% of their “services”, but an organization that steals millions of taxpayer dollars through Medicaid fraud can’t exactly be trusted with their numbers. He offered to talk later.

The NAACP doesn’t have to wait to see an Emmitt Till photo. The horrible images of mutilated unborn babies’ bodies are not hard to find. The women killed (e.g. Tonya Reaves) by abortionists like Gittler, Gosnell, Carhart, Brigham and many other late-term butchers get no justice, no outcry. Google it. Bing it. But don’t pretend this injustice can’t be seen.

And just like the self-contradictory words of Hilary Shelton, the North Carolina NAACP chapter proves how pro-abortion the nation’s oldest civil rights organization really is. A recent NAACP rally (h/t SaynSumthn Blog) featured Melissa Reed of North Carolina Planned Parenthood Health Systems Action Fund (their political arm) to protest prolife protections passed by the NC legislature. Now, keep in mind, abortion is the number one killer of African-Americans. It’s the only health disparity that is celebrated as an act of “justice” by abortion activists. Ms. Reed, paid by a billion dollar organization that has fought to force taxpayers to fund birth control and abortion, made the laughable statement: “North Carolinians believe a woman has a right to make deeply personal health decisions about her body without politicians interfering.” For over 10 minutes she berated conservative politicians as the enemy of social justice (and apparently the enemy of the deeply political Planned Parenthood Federation of America).

Though we never see the crowd, one can hear them enthusiastically affirming the abortion giant’s political agent. Reed declares: “And you made crystal clear to Governor McCrory that we will hold him accountable for breaking his promise to North Carolinians by signing into law sweeping restrictions on access to safe and legal abortion.”

There you have it—the unambiguous promotion and defense of abortion, on a stage adorned with the large undeniable seal of the NAACP. It’s all crystal clear. NAACP–Black civil rights group. Planned Parenthood–Number one killer of black babies. Here are two, what should be contrary, organizations working hand in hand to continue Sanger’s 1939 Negro Project, which promised progress through the prevention of human beings. The Negro Project failed in eliminating poverty through birth control, so today’s Planned Parenthood preaches empowerment through population control. And the NAACP is fighting to make sure that control remains in the bloodstained hands of the nation’s largest abortion chain.
