Planned Parenthood president wrong about ‘pro-woman’ Obama

September 6, 2012 (TexasRighttoLife.com) - Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards addressed the Democratic National Committee last night, saying, “President Obama understands women. He trusts women, and on every single issue that matters to us, he stands with women.”

No, he doesn’t stand with women. President Obama is running on a platform so extreme that women are endangered by his pro-abortion ideology.

The new Democratic Party platform—and Obama himself—opposes “any and all efforts to weaken” Roe v. Wade, claiming that there is “no place for politicians or government to get in the way” of a woman’s “right” to an abortion.

Any and all efforts—that should be a red flag to women.

For decades, pro-life activists have fought to pass commonsense safety regulations for the abortion industry. However, the abortion lobby—which claims to stand for women—has always pushed back against these proposed regulations, like laws that would require abortionists to disclose the risks associated with abortion, laws that would stop coerced abortions, and laws that would simply require hallways to be wide enough to accommodate a gurney in case of an emergency.

And while Planned Parenthood opposes any and all safety regulations, Obama opposes any and all efforts to defund Planned Parenthood. Just one example of that opposition happened recently right here in Texas. Last year, women lawmakers voted to clean up a Medicaid-funded healthcare program for low-income women by redirecting tax dollars away from Planned Parenthood to other non-abortion affiliated clinics. Obama’s response? Shut down the program all together, jeopardizing the healthcare of 130,000 low-income Texan women.

That’s not pro-woman. That’s pro-Planned Parenthood. In Obama’s opinion, either Planned Parenthood got the money, or nobody did.

Obama is in love with Planned Parenthood. And it’s not because they’re some champion of women’s health because they provide pap smears and breast exams. If that were the case, he would love all women’s health providers, and would not have shut down federal funding to the Women’s Health Program in Texas. (Over 4,000 non-abortion affiliated clinics within the program offered those same exact services, and more.) No, Obama loves Planned Parenthood because they commit abortions. That’s what makes them special.

And Obama is just as special to Planned Parenthood as they are to him. No other president has been so supportive of their abortion mission, or so committed to keeping their public funding alive.

If Obama is reelected, this love affair will destroy women’s health.
