May 9, 2017 (Parents as First Educators) — The attack on the family is relentless. It just won’t let anything go by without attempting to rearrange reality and denigrating what we cherish.

Mother’s Day pretty much means one thing: a day to celebrate mom. Flowers, brunch, it all seems so simple. But it’s not, at least not for the ideologues.

A school in B.C. is attempting to cancel it, or at least put a big dent in it. Children in grades 1 and 2 will not be making gifts at school to give to mom on Mother’s Day “in an effort to celebrate diversity, inclusivity, and also to nurture our students who are part of non-traditional families.”

The school says it has “decided to encourage those celebrations to take place at home.”

Oh, thanks for your permission to celebrate Mother’s Day at home, especially after giving my child the message that Mother’s Day is not okay.

If the ideologues are not trying to cancel Mother’s Day, they are degrading it, and motherhood and family life along with it, as with this new Kraft Dinner commercial.

The commercial features a mother who says that 74% of moms have admitted to swearing in front of their kids. She then offers replacement swearwords for moms to use, but in practice shows that to be an effective mother you have to use real swear words.

She tells the viewer: “Sometimes we just have to swear, and that’s okay, nobody’s [expletive] perfect. You’re a mom [expletive], and it’s [expletive] Mother’s Day.”

I was truly appalled when I saw the ad. Click the link above to see it for yourself. The commercial disparages moms and Mother's Day; it doesn't celebrate them.

The agenda to transform the family into something it is not and to empty it of its true meaning continues. The attack on Mother’s Day is another tool in the ideologues’ toolbox.
