URGENT: Pray and fast for Ireland to vote pro-life on Friday, May 25
DUBLIN, May 24, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Tomorrow Irish citizens go to the polls to vote on a referendum that seeks to overturn the Eighth Amendment to the Irish Constitution. The 1983 measure protects the right to life of preborn Irish children.
A “No” vote would keep that protection in place.
A “Yes” vote would open the door to abortion-on-demand in a Catholic country that was once the envy of pro-lifers around the world.
Tomorrow’s vote will be one of the most important events in the history of Ireland, one that will define who the Irish are as a people from now on.
LifeSiteNews asks everyone who reads this message to pray and fast for a pro-life victory so that preborn children will continue to be constitutionally protected.
Please pray and fast especially while Irish polling stations are open on May 25, from 7 AM until 10 PM Irish Summer Time (i.e. 2 AM until 5 PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time).
Pray that God will have mercy upon Ireland, inflaming the hearts of Irish voters to vote with love and courage for the equal right to life of mothers and their unborn children.
To be clear: it is a not a government nor a foreign power that will impose or prevent the killing of preborn children in Ireland. The choice is solely that of the Irish people. Right now, polls indicate that the Irish people are evenly split on the issue, meaning that the vote hangs in a balance.
That said, billions of dollars have been poured into the Emerald Isle from abroad to ensure a pro-abortion “Yes” vote. Epitomized by Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, many Irish politicians who once professed pro-life beliefs have now nailed their true colors to the pro-abortion mast.
The Irish media, too, is now trumpeting the once-alien pro-abortion creed. Ireland is no longer the same country it was thirty-five years ago, they remind citizens again and again. If this is the case, it is only because of the relentless campaign of globalists hellbent on making the entire world a safe space for the Culture of Death.
But there is hope. In the past two years, the world has witnessed campaigns and elections that did not go the way the global elites told us with mocking certainty they would go. Two of the most prominent — the defeat of Hillary Clinton as President of the United States and the freeing of Great Britain from the shackles of the European Union — showed the unexpected power of the great, neglected, despised, silent majority when it unites together.
How much prayer had to do in these purely secular contests, we do not know. But we do know that God is on the side of those who fight in His name for the Culture of Life. God is on the side of those brave Irish men and women, many hailing from rural areas, who will fight for the life of future generations with their ballots.
Let us pray that the Holy Spirit fills the hearts of the Irish people and leads them to choose life and to protect the most innocent of God's creation.
