September 27, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) — Last night during the first presidential debate, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton let slip her view that even “one murder is too many.” The remark came when she and opponent Donald Trump were discussing the problem of violent crime in inner cities.

“Look, one murder is too many. […] Who disagrees with keeping neighborhoods safe?” she said.

Hillary is absolutely right. But unfortunately, she holds that not everyone who is brutally killed in the U.S. counts as a murder victim. While the candidates expressed outrage over the few hundred murders that have recently taken place in New York, there was no outrage expressed for the estimated 58.5 million preborn babies who have been legally murdered by abortion since Roe v. Wade legalized the procedure in 1973.

For Hillary, not a single one of these millions of aborted babies count as murder because she doesn’t believe that abortion is the taking of an innocent human life. For Hillary, abortion is not murder but an almost sacred right that must be protected and even expanded. In fact, Hillary supports abortion in all nine months of pregnancy and has promised, if elected, to enact the largest expansion of taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand in history.

Truth is, there should be no safer place for any living human than in his or her’s mother’s womb. A woman becomes a mother the moment she becomes pregnant. And what is a mother? She is a protector, a self-giving lover with a tender and compassionate heart. A mother puts the needs of others above her own, diligently caring for her child who is completely dependent on her for survival.

Listen to the beautiful words Jessica James uses in a Huffington Post blog to describe motherhood: “Being a mother is a gift that is unimaginable to any woman who does not have a child in their life. It’s a connection that is unmatched and insurmountable in any form or other relationship. It’s a love that grows continually, a love that always wants more and better.”

What could be more beautiful than the loving relationship between a mother and child?

But in Hillary’s worldview, being a mother also means wielding the power to destroy that beautiful precious life if deemed inconvenient by the woman. There is something so profoundly sick and disturbing about this. I believe that abortion is simply the antithesis of what it means to be human.

I want to live in a world where all children are loved and welcomed with open arms. I want to live in a world where not one child’s life is snuffed out because an adult wants to live as she or he chooses. I want to live in a world where each human life is respected, loved, and cherished, and where motherhood is celebrated from the moment of conception.

I want to live in a world, where, like Hillary said, even “one murder is too many” and that includes the murder of the young and the old, the born and the preborn.

Yes, it’s time to bring justice to an oppressed class of persons. It’s time to recognize abortion for the violence to woman and child it truly is. Yes, it’s time to end the killing. Abortion is murder, and “one murder is too many.”
