As of this writing, over 70,000 people have signed a petition to boycott the movie.

Two days out from the release of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” it's clear that the movie is going to be a box office hit. Sixty percent of all tickets at theater giant Fandango were sold for the movie, the trailer has been viewed 47 million times, and two sequels have already been approved by NBC Universal.

Even in the darkest of times, however, hope shines through. And through the efforts of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCSE), LifeSiteNews, and other organizations, millions of people worldwide are learning how “Fifty Shades of Grey,” portrayed as a love flick, is the exact opposite of what love is about.

Over here at LifeSiteNews, we've focused on three goals: The first is a petition that already has more than 73,000 signatures and over 200,000 Facebook interactions that calls for a boycott of the film. We've received attention for the petition by a number of online publications, including but not limited to Daily Kos and Breitbart.

Then there are our articles exposing the many harmful effects of the 50 Shades phenomenon, which have so far been read over 750,000 times, and growing fast.

For example:

Finally, LifeSiteNews has organized a coalition of groups that stand against the anti-women, pornographic message of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” The coalition, which was announced on Monday, includes LifeSiteNews, NCSE, the Family Research Council, and Counter Cultured.

Today, we're proud to announce the inclusion of another member: the Media Research Center (MRC). And according to MRC president Brent Bozell, the movie itself shows hypocrisy on the left.

For several years, news outlets have colluded with the left and blamed conservatives for a so-called 'war on women.' It turns out that both Hollywood and NBC’s 'Today,' which has spent more than 21 minutes promoting this sadistic film, are really the ones promoting violence against women.

Meanwhile, NCSE's message has been elegant in its simplicity: The movie promotes pornography, domestic violence, and misogyny. This has led to enormous attention from the mainstream and even traditionally liberal media. For example, online media giant Mashable dedicated a blog post to NCSE's #50dollarsnot50shades campaign, which asks those who are considering seeing “Fifty Shades of Grey” to donate $50 to a domestic violence shelter or agency instead of watching the movie.

NCSE's Executive Director, Dawn Hawkins, also appeared on ABC's “Good Morning America” and “CNN Espanol,” and published an op-ed with FoxNews.com.

American and Canadian domestic violence groups have joined NCSE in calling attention to what the film may portray as loving attention from billionaire Christian Grey towards Anastasia, but what NCSE rightly points out is domestic violence and stalking in the real world.

Due to NCSE's efforts, millions of Americans are going to learn about the damaging ideas promoted by “Fifty Shades of Grey.” But we're not done yet!

Over the next week, be prepared to be told how many millions of people watched “Fifty Shades of Grey.” But know that even as Hollywood continues to sink our culture, the fight is not lost — and millions of people will continue to be educated on the culturally harmful filth that “Fifty Shades of Grey” really is.
