April 28, 2015 (40DaysforLife.com) — “40 Days for Life is a great blessing,” said Kelechi, the local 40 Days for Life leader in Abuja, Nigeria. 40 Days for Life first came to Nigeria two years ago … and more locations will be involved in the next campaign.

Kelechi told of two babies who were saved during a recent campaign in Abuja.

“The first lady chose life for her baby when she was given the task to print the letterhead papers of our parent organization, Save the Unborn Babies Pro-life Initiative. The name struck her and made her choose life for the baby,” she said.

“The second baby was saved when I shared our pro-life flyers to many women in an open market hair salon,” Kelechi explained. “One of them came to me and said she would show this flyer to the man.”

She encouraged volunteers to go about their daily routines with pro-life flyers – sharing them and engaging in conversation with the people they gave the flyers to. “It is community outreach and works beautifully for us here in Nigeria because it is face to face contact, an opportunity for them to air their opinions and clarify their misunderstandings.”

Kelechi said many people are very welcoming of the pro-life message, and often respond with comments such as, “Good work, God bless you.”

“However,” she added, “abortion remains rampant.”

Towards the end of the campaign in 2014, a Walk for Life was organized as another community outreach event. Kelechi’s organization was also interviewed on the radio as part of a focus on the culture of life.

“40 Days for Life has been a brilliant opportunity for personal spiritual growth and tremendous blessings,” she said. “We have been blessed.”
