(LiveActionNews) – We all want to do our jobs to the best of our ability. The same is true for pro-choice OB/GYNs. And as John Bruchalski, a former abortionist, explains it, if you’re a pro-choice OB/GYN, then you’re going to want to learn to do abortions and you’re going to offer abortion to your patients.

“I bought the lie,” said Bruchalski in a speech he gave at a conference for the Pro-Life Action League. “Abortion and contraception were good for women. […] I held the forceps. I twisted. […] That cannula that you use is only about eight or nine inches long. That’s how close I am when I’m taking the life of that child. And it goes through the cannula, through my fingers, through my arm, into my heart. And my heart becomes a little bit more hardened every time. I know because I’ve been there. I’ve done that.”

After years performing abortions, Bruchalski says it was intercessory prayer that was the key to his conversion. While visiting a religious site in Mexico City, he heard a voice asking, “Why are you hurting me?”

Despite hearing this voice, Bruchalski returned home and continued to perform abortions, including one that went wrong.

“Here I was doing an abortion. I didn’t take a good history. The lady’s water broke. I quickly said, ‘Ya know, we’re just gonna deliver your baby. The baby’s not gonna make it.’ So I delivered this child,” Bruchalski explained. “[…] this baby was a pound and two ounces. They had to hit the button to bring the neonatology team in to help revive the baby. In walks Doctor Palmer, looks at me square in the eyes and says, ‘Stop giving me tumors. You’re better than this.’ Aborted a baby, the baby was too big, too old. It was breathing.”

Soon after this incident, Bruchalski accompanied his mother on a pilgrimage to another religious site. It was there, he says, that his whole world fell apart. He knew he needed to stop participating in abortion.

“So at one point in my life everything converged,” he explained. “Data, medical studies that I was reading. Saying wait a second they’re not telling me the truth here. Abortion – breast cancer; abortion – prematurity. What? And then people talking to me. The conversation of conversion. Doctor Debbie saying, ‘Stop giving me tumors.’ Relations, data, and spirituality and a relationship with God all came together at once in God’s mercy.”

He left the abortion industry and founded Tepeyac Family Center, a pro-life, OB/GYN healthcare practice, and Divine Mercy Care, a non-profit healthcare organization. Both work with pregnancy resource centers to help women who are dealing with unexpected pregnancies.

In addition, Bruchalski recently toured 42 medical schools giving a presentation called “How ‘Pro-Choice’ Are We?” He found that most medical students were eager to listen to him.

Bruchalski urges pro-lifers to continue to stand outside of abortion clinics. He believes that we need to work together to make abortion “unwantable.” He says we must “help each other, pray for one another, sacrifice for one another. […] Conversions happen not on our timing. We just have to be instruments of God’s love and mercy.”
