May 3, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — Can you imagine being asked by your unfaithful spouse to adopt the baby that he has fathered with another woman?

That’s the painful situation a Peruvian woman found herself in 16 years ago. Her stunningly pro-life response displays the kind of selfless, courageous, sacrificial love that is oh too rare in this world.

Her story was recounted recently on the Humans of New York Facebook page.

“I said, ‘Sure, give it to me,’” she says she replied after her husband presented his request. “I arranged to meet the woman in the park, and she handed me the boy. He was only three days old. He felt like my son the moment I held him.”

Unfortunately, the couple's marriage did not survive the infidelity. But her adopted son is now 16.

While we don't know whether the boy's birth mother considered abortion or not, most other babies conceived in similar circumstances likely would have been aborted.

Fortunately, the boy's adoptive mother recognized the truth — that her adopted son was no less valuable simply because of the circumstances of his conception, as painful as they were to her personally. Instead, she took upon herself the burden and the consequence of her husband's sin, opening her heart in love.

What an incredible example!
