Yet another mainstream media outlet is crediting – or blaming, depending on one’s viewpoint – abortion supporters for the fundraising woes Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure has experienced in the aftermath of its realliance with Planned Parenthood, while ignoring any ire pro-life proponents may be demonstrating with their closed wallets.

From TribLive.com, June 23, which also perpetuates another falsehood:

The Komen Pittsburgh chapter raised more than $2.4 million in fiscal 2013, compared with nearly $3 million the prior year….

Affiliates across the country reported similar declines. The national group raised about $78 million less in gifts, sponsorships and race entry fees in 2013 than it did in 2012….

The national organization upset many donors by cutting off funding to Planned Parenthood, which performs mammograms, because of its involvement with abortion.

For undoubtedly not the last time, Planned Parenthood does not perform mammograms.

A Planned Parenthood zealot scorned…

On the topic of Komen’s drop in donations, prevailing liberal mainstream media wisdom has been that abortion proponents carry grudges a long, long time – forever maybe – which explains the decline.

So, the thinking goes, even after Komen sought to pacify abortion zealots by lifting its mere 3-day funding moratorium against Planned Parenthood, an organization that does nothing to stop breast cancer other than give the same breast exams women give themselves in the shower, the betrayal was fait accompli. Spiteful people, pro-choicers are.

This is the explanation that makes sense to the liberal media. It suits their agenda. Don’t mess with Planned Parenthood or abortion zealots.

Pro-life movement apparently blind to Komen-Planned Parenthood link?

It has apparently never occurred to them that pro-lifers might actually be the force behind the donation drop. This actually makes more sense and is more likely, since pro-lifers are the ones Komen ended up double-crossing.

There is no abortion organization pro-lifers detest more than Planned Parenthood, the United States’ largest abortion provider. Everyone knows it. We do not want one red pro-life cent to go to Planned Parenthood, even if through another source. The government almost ground to a halt over this fact. (Plus conservatives are more generous than liberals.) From The New Yorker, 2011:

The campaign against Planned Parenthood has been unrelenting….

“We would wake up and, every day, it would be about something else,” [Planned Parenthood CEO CecileRichards said. “Some days it was about abortion. Some days it was about race. Some days it was about me. Some days it was about kids.”

That was 2011. Things haven’t changed. Komen can try to woo abortion supporters back all they want. They’re wooing the wrong funding source. And the right funding source will never come back as long as Komen subsidizes its poisonous partner, Planned Parenthood.
