A peaceful pro-life protest turned violent today in Columbus, OH—by an angry pro-abortion woman who became enraged and attacked both verbally and physically as the pro-life group Created Equal conducted an outreach for interns. The video shows the woman kicking over pro-life signs in a tirade on the street, then attacking Created Equal’s Director of Training, Seth Drayer. In front of a pro-life sign showing what an unborn baby looks like, the video shows the woman screaming:

“That is not what a fetus looks like. It’s a clump of cells at 12 weeks. It does not look like that! It’s a clump of blank cells. You’re a racist f—-ing male that doesn’t stand for women’s rights!”

Then she violently kicks over the sign with the picture of the unborn baby and says to get the camera out of her face, and the screen goes black for a moment and throws a punch. As they tell her they are calling the police, she runs down the street and runs for another pro-life sign, kicking it also. “I’m calling the police, ma’am,” the Created Equal worker tells her. She faces him and says: “You are f—-ing white male privileged ass—-. She then hits the camera away with her hand also. As he calmly continues that he is calling the police right then, she continues:

“ What you are is a racist mother—– ,as well. How dare You f—ing do this kind of s—, ass—-?”

He tells her she is being videotaped, she responds:

“Go ahead, go right f—ing on ahead, you sexist misogynist mother—ers. That is all you are. You don’t give a sh–about women. You don’t give a sh–about life. All you are is a just a bunch of f—ing ass—–.”

Someone tells her to back off and she stands, looking angry, and says, “All you are is just a bunch of misogynist mother—ers. Take your make privilege somewhere else.” In the next scene she is in his face, finger pointed, yelling,

“No uterus; no right to talk about it. Understand me motherf—-er?”

The Created Equal workers stay calm and unprovoked throughout the entire scene. It ends when the police arrive and retrieve her from the bus she has boarded. She throws her wrists in the air and walks toward the officers, and says with a defiant tone, “Go ahead; take me.” In a statement from Created Equal, Executive Director Mark Harrington said:

“Violent attacks on pro-lifers are becoming more common. Pro-lifers need to be winsome and be willing to take verbal and physical abuse if necessary in order to remain faithful to our pledge to be non-violent.  We also should take precautions to reduce the likelihood of these attacks, be prepared to film them and prosecute the perpetrators (if necessary) to the fullest extent of the law.  We understand the risk we take each time we go into the marketplace of ideas with a message as counter-cultural as showing the victims of abortion.  However, despite the threat we will not shrink back from representing the victims.”

Created Equal says:

One of the main characteristics of being a movement, not just a cause, is that we are dedicated to non-violence and treating people with respect.  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said; ‘Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.’”

While abortion advocates have lamented the recent Supreme Court ruling on the removal of buffer zones around abortion clinics, this video is a reminder that pro-lifers also risk their physical safety when standing for life. Perhaps the ones in need of buffer zones are those peacefully protesting abortion, as witnessed today in Columbus.
