TORONTO, July 18, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — As all state ideologies eventually are, the Ontario Liberal government’s enthusiasm for sex reassignment surgeries is bankrolled by the taxpayer.

And in this case, the price has more than doubled in the last three years.

The Kathleen Wynne Liberals paid out $2.2 million in 2014 to 2015 for surgeries to alter an individual’s physiology to resemble the opposite sex.

That’s soared to $4.37 million from 2016 to 2017, according to ministry of health figures.

Moreover, seven times more sex reassignment surgeries were approved in 2016 to 2017 than the previous year.

Approval for SRS increased  from 195 in 2015 to 2016 to a staggering 1,365 in 2016 to 2017.

In March 2016, Health Minister Eric Hoskins changed provincial regulations to allow “qualified providers” across the province to assess and approve sex reassignment surgeries, whereas before, only the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health could do so.

Doctors and nurse practitioners can now submit a “prior approval application for insured SRS to the ministry,” according to a ministry official.

Since then, the ministry has received applications from about 250 doctors and nurse practitioners across Ontario.

Hoskins’ most recent move has been to promise some genital transitional surgeries now only available in Quebec and the United States will be available in-province by 2018.

That includes vaginoplasty (“male-to-female” surgery that constructs a vagina) and metoidioplasty (“female-to-male” surgery that constructs a penis using an hormonally enlarged clitoris).

Dutch Catholic psychologist Gerard van den Aardweg describes these procedures as “harmful mutilation” and “an act of inhumanity” toward people who suffer from a “serious mental disorder.”

He also deplored the cost, both the “immaterial damage done to the public morale when the authorities promote such gravely irresponsible measures” and dollars diverted from legitimate medical services.

“Politicians and medical professionals, the promoters and executors of these mutilations, have a lot to answer for, towards the transgender patient, society, and their own conscience,” van den Aardweg told LifeSiteNews.

Add to that the long-suffering Ontario taxpayer.
