Wanted: A Catholic bishop who believes in God, thinks straight, talks straight, and acts with right judgement;
A bishop who loves the Church, cherishes the Gospel, and holds fast to Tradition;
A bishop who does not hide behind his title, position, and authority, but uses them to bring others to God;
A bishop who has not only diligently studied the strategy of the enemy but who knows intimately the plan given by Christ through the Church to keep the flock safe, and who zealously carries out that plan;
A bishop who makes friends with kings and politicians but who honors and serves God first and foremost;
A bishop who can look the faithful, the media, or the government right in the eye and tell the truth, every time;
A bishop who is a master of diplomacy but who knows how to speak fearlessly and thunderously in the face of injustice;
A bishop who is more concerned about preaching the Gospel without compromise than in wondering what people think of him;
A bishop who can tell the difference between the sheep and the wolf and who fearlessly denounces the wolf as an enemy, even when the wolf is wearing sheep’s clothing and has befriended many sheep;
A bishop who radiates God-the-Father’s love;
A bishop whom the faithful are inspired to follow;
A bishop whose presence inspires people to love God;
A bishop who acts like it all depends on him but prays like it all depends on God;
A bishop who would rather serve than be served, give than receive, and love than be loved;
A bishop who avidly reads magisterial documents because he loves steeping himself in the richness and glory of truth communicated to the Church through the Holy Spirit;
A bishop who loves everyone, but loves them in the truth;
A bishop who loves God, his fellow men, and himself, in that order;
A bishop who vigorously fights for family values and does not let truth be silenced by Caesar;
A bishop who is more concerned about the eternal salvation of souls than about offending someone when speaking the truth;
A bishop who eagerly looks for opportunities to strengthen marriages by preaching from “Humanae Vitae” about fertility, openness to life, and responsible parenting on any given Sunday;
A bishop who would rather suffer imprisonment and even martyrdom than compromise in any way on matters of faith and morals;
A bishop who courageously and visibly leads his people in the fight against injustice committed against the most vulnerable members of the human family;
A bishop who is not a pharisee, a hypocrite, or complacent, but who is simply holy, joyful, and full of life;
A bishop who loves the Blessed Virgin Mary and is personal with her on a daily basis;
A bishop who does not want to be successful, only faithful;
This bishop is wanted everywhere: Men and women of good will want him, married couples want him, boys and girls want him, the schools want him, priests, religious, and seminarians want him, the Pope wants him, the whole Church wants him, all creation wants him.
Pray that Jesus, the Lord of the harvest, sends holy laborers into his harvest.
