Buffalo diocese to close, merge nearly 80 parishes amid bankruptcy due to past abuse cases
The diocese will go from 160 parishes and 36 secondary worship sites to 79 parishes and 39 secondary worship sites in a move that Bishop Michael Fisher blamed on a lack of attendance and vocations, the growth of secularism and past priestly sexual abuse.
