Instead of mentioning Good Friday specifically, this year Veterans Affairs Canada issued a statement to service members that read, 'We want to wish Veterans, current members and their families a happy March holiday season!
Irish outlets reported this week that Dublin Airport had canceled the blessing of the planes ritual which occurs every Christmas Day. After outcry, the airport has since said it is reconsidering its decision to axe the longstanding practice.
For years I have tried to find and set up an outdoor nativity scene to share our family joy about the birth of Christ and all that it means and has brought to humanity and to our family life.
It’s natural to feel a loss within ourselves if we maybe aren’t quite feeling that Christmas spirit this year amid our worldly anxieties… but it’s supernatural to recognize that none of those concerns can take away the tremendous miracle that we celebrate this and every Christmas.
Life has always been a struggle and it always will be, for every person. But it is our responsibility to love each other as Christ did – becoming as vulnerable as a newborn baby and as selfless as the One who gave His life for each of us.
But as dark as the times may be, Christ said, 'I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, walketh not in darkness, but shall have the light of life.' (Jn 8:12)
