The Supreme Court justice took it upon herself to officially 'correct' Justice Clarence Thomas, who had wondered how humane disposal of aborted babies constitutes an 'undue burden' on their mothers.
'Enshrining a constitutional right to an abortion based solely on the race, sex, or disability of an unborn child, as Planned Parenthood advocates, would constitutionalize the views of the 20th-century eugenics movement.'
The Supreme Court is allowing to stand a lower court ruling that struck down a ban on abortions specifically motivated by a child’s race, sex, or disability.
'I thought we got away from religious tests,' Justice Thomas said. 'I don't think I know a single judge who has allowed religion to interfere with their jobs.'
'So what explains the Court’s refusal to do its job here?' Justice Clarence Thomas asked. 'I suspect it has something to do with the fact that some respondents in these cases are named Planned Parenthood.'
