Estimated to be the country's largest pro-life gathering in the 21st century, the march took place two days after the left-wing Polish government voted on abortion bills.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who is helping lead the country toward a more left-wing, pro-European Union stance, said earlier this month that his pro-EU coalition would forward such a bill.
'In the spirit of responsibility for the Church in Poland and for the good of our common homeland, I call on all people of good will to unequivocally declare themselves pro-life,' Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki said.
Poland was ordered to pay €16,004 ($17,549) in 'damages' to the mother, who procured an abortion for her Down syndrome baby in the Netherlands, after the European Court of Human rights ruled that Poland's law against aborting on eugenics grounds violated 'privacy' rights.
