Today, I read from Raymund Maria's excellent series of LifeSite articles on Freemasonry to demonstrate the basis for Catholic concerns about the Freemasons and explain why the Church has long condemned participation in the group.
Pope Leo XIII wrote that the ‘ultimate purpose’ of Freemasonry was ‘the utter overthrow of that whole religious and political order of the world which the Christian teaching has produced, and the substitution of a new state of things in accordance with their ideas, of which the foundations and laws shall be drawn from mere naturalism.’
'O Father, it is impossible not to ask you the following questions: Are you a member of ecclesiastical masonry? Who are the cardinals, bishops and priests who are members of this ecclesiastical masonry?'
‘We are being governed by members of a global lobby of criminal conspirators who tell us directly that their plan is to eliminate us, and the whole time we are sitting here wondering why we have to wear masks on buses and not in restaurants.’
