‘Genital mutilation of a child through reassignment surgery is child abuse, subject to all rules and procedures pertaining to child abuse,’ the head of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said Wednesday.
‘Subjecting a child to genital mutilation through reassignment surgery creates a 'genuine threat of substantial harm from physical injury to the child,'' Republican Gov. Greg Abbott wrote to the Texas Department of Family Protective Services.
On Tuesday, the Republican-led state Senate passed Senate Bill 1, which requires absentee voters to provide a form of identification, like a driver’s license or social security number. Senators also moved forward with legislation earlier this week to ban transgender biological males from competing against females.
