The former rector of a German theological faculty has warned that the gutting of Rome's John Paul II Institute could damage the reputation of all universities affiliated with the Catholic Church.
The ‘gravest deception’ was that professors were led to believe they would have a role in formulating guidelines for the new Institute, only to have foisted upon them statutes they had already rejected.
'You cannot take from us the fathers, the teachers, the parents of our hearts! You don’t have the right,' one student wrote about the firing of beloved teachers.
